How far people have traveled to get to our school

How far we have traveled to get to school

Today for Cybersmart we used google my maps to create a personalized map showing where we were born and how far we have travelled to get to school. we were also asked three questions which we will answer in this post.

How far have some students travelled in their lifetime to reach Waikowhai Primary school?     Most people in our class were born near or in NZ Some others were born in Tonga Samoa and Malaysia which is about 10 thousand kilometers and for Tonga & Samoa it is 4 thousand kilometers.

Why do people make the choice to move to different countries?
They might think we have better education cleaner air or something else like economy.

Is this a trend in NZ society? What does the media tell us?
The media says thousands of Fijians are gong in ballots to gain residence and super max might increase to 60 years according to the nation (News Show)
People are also blaming Chinese home buyers for buying up the houses which led to the housing crisis but what did we do it is our hard earned money I know because I am Chinese.

Next I Will react to a vimeo video which talks about racism I know how it feels because people have been racist toward me I will also link out to the video on the official site.

The Lie from Untitled Productions on Vimeo.

First off I think how so much racism has been put towards these young students that haven't done anything to you or me or their classmates. Also these statements of racism are outrageous and untrue LIES  to discourage their passion to learn. these negatives about other cultures are horrible & mean. This is a very powerful and moving video about children coming forward about the lies made about them.

Online scenarios

What would you do?

WALT analyze scenarios
Today we made up scenarios where one person is sending & publishing inappropriate messages to you or others. Then in a blog post which is this we respond with our answers. We can respond in any way depending on the situation but it can not be too aggressive or nasty.

Here are my answers

(1.)I will not interfere & go off my device to talk to a parent or trusted person then I would either report or block or both to make sure he/she can't see my posts or send me any messages to hurt my feelings.

(2.)In the future I will have filters and only allow & read messages from people i trust like friends & family.

(3.)To start I will not respond so he won't send anymore bad messages to me and then I will go to a parent or teacher to tell them. Then I will report him but if it continues. I will block him and report everything he sends to me & delete them.
